The ancient history of Reflexology dates to 5,000 years ago where signs of the oldest evidence of Reflexology is wall painting found in Egypt in the pyramid known as the ‘physician’s tomb. An Egyptian physician, 'Ankmahor' at Saqqara. The inscription reads “Do not let it be painful” (patient) "I do as you please" (practitioner).

 

Reflexology is Based on the theory that the body is mapped onto the feet and the feet are the window to the body. Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy that works on the feet, legs, hands, face and ears. A therapeutic method used to stimulate varies maiden/zone lines relieving pain, triggering healing process, alleviating discomfort to the corresponding organs, glands or structure of the body. These pressure points are directly connected to the nervous system affecting the bodily functions.

 

The treatment process restores the body’s natural balance leaving a relaxed well-being sensation including physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Preparations

 

Reflexology client removes both shoes and socks and in general receives a treatment in a reclining position on a plinth or a couch with the therapist positioned as necessary to work on the bare feet. No other preparation is involved. No prescription drugs, creams, oils, or lotions are used on the skin.
